Folks,
Some people have asked about the details of fee collection procedures for the interim meeting.
This note addresses at least one of those questions.
This interim meeting has no host picking up the cost associated with holding the meeting. Nonetheless, fees must be collected from attendees, and expenses paid somehow. The IEEE 802.17 Working Group has no mechanisms for handling these many details (though in the future, they may develop them). Therefore, in the meantime, the Resilient Packet Ring Alliance has volunteered to assist with the administrative task of collecting meeting fees, making payments for the facilities as required, and disbursing any remaining funds according to the directions of IEEE 802.17. Lantern Communications has offered further administrative support in the collection, recording, tracking, and deposit of the meeting fees.
Following the meeting there will be a complete accounting of all fees collected and spent. In addition, any remaining funds will be held until such time as they are expended at the direction of IEEE 802.17 Working Group. In no event will any funds be used for Resilient Packet Ring Alliance or Lantern Communications purposes.
I hope this helps to clarify matters. As always, if you have questions or concerns about this or related issues, please contact:
