[10GMMF] TP3 Meeting minutes, January 11 2005
Hello TP3ers,
Here are my meeting minutes from the January 11, 2005 TP3 call.
For reference, the agenda for the call was set as:
1. List attendees

3. Review progress on algorithm development for selecting test impulses
4. Review progress against timeline
5. Walk-in items
1. List attendees:

Kevin WITT
2. Review notes from last meeting:
No comments; minutes from January 4, 2005 approved.
3. Review progress on algorithm development for selecting test impulses:
Petre Popescu reported on his investigation to fit a combination of 4 or 5 pulses spaced by a common delta-T. He is using data supplied by Sudeep Bhoja. Petre reported that the majority of the pulses sorted by Sudeep are between 3.2 to 4.8 UI wide when using 0.1 amplitude units as a threshold (the maximum peak is normalized to 1.0). Petre isolated "split pulses" as a special case due to problems in generating a fit. He defined a split pulse as one containing a peak of at least 0.7 high with a dip of more than 0.5 between it and the adjacent peak.
The fitting is accomplished using a rough fit with a trapezoidal approximation to the pulse followed by fine-tuning using an optimizer.
Petre agreed to have a more extensive presentation for the January 18 teleconference (Thank you, Petre.)
Jim McVey emphasized that it in not necessary to fit every pulse from the fiber model using delta-T spaced transmitter pulses. The goal is to find three pulses/fit parameters (pre/post/symmetric) which will correctly challenge the device-under-test.
Lew Aronson reminded the group that an updated version of his proposed TP3 Comprehensive stressed receiver sensitivity and overload test is posted to the website. It is available at << http://www.ieee802.org/3/aq/public/comments/d1.0/P802.3aqD1.0com118AronsonReceiverSensitivity.pdf>>
4. Review progress against timeline:
The Mike Lawton/Lew Aronson timeline was reviewed. (Page 7 of TP3_Planning_Nov23.pdf available at << http://www.ieee802.org/3/10GMMFSG/email/msg00509.html>>) Per this timeline, the topic of the day was "Review and decide on test procedure and characterization". With the exception of the impulse parameters, it appears that we are on track.
5. Walk-in items:
None.
The next call is January 18 at the usual time.
Thank you for you participation.
Jim McVey
