Subject: Re: [802.3_B400G] IEEE P802.3dj - Going Forward for May Meeting
Dear Colleagues,
As requested by the Task Force Chair, the electrical editorial team and I provide the following electrical-related topics that are likely to be raised during the Working Group ballot phase. (The
list below is not intended to be an exhaustive list of topics; if a topic is missing, please call it to my attention via a private email.)
Electrical-related:
- COM quantization noise
- Reference receiver equalizer limits
- Max swing and initial ILT setting
- DC common mode
- Steady State voltage
- AN/LT timers and timeouts
- S-param Frequency range
- Mated fixture ILdd
- R_peak values
- ERL with reference impedance other than 50 Ohm
- Jitter
- SNR_isi and SNDR
Participants working on these Working Group ballot phase topics are strongly encouraged to consider contributions for the May 2025 interim meeting. This will facilitate discussion and consensus
building in advance of the start of Working Group ballot and comment consideration in July.
With regards,
-Kent

Subject: [802.3_B400G] IEEE P802.3dj - Going Forward for May Meeting
All,
First, I would like to congratulate the Task Force on its success this week and its decision to pre-submit D1.5 (our next draft) for consideration by the IEEE 802.3 WG to grant approval for us to proceed to WG Ballot after the May 2025
Interim.
As noted in my closing comments at the March 2025 Plenary, I encourage individuals to consider the submission of any comments for the sixth task force review, as the entire draft will be open for comment with the initial WG Ballot.
Given the state of the project, some may be assuming that the May meeting will be light. However, given the expected high number of comments that are typically submitted during an initial WG Ballot, the leadership will
utilize any extra time in May for consensus discussions and / or presentation time on critical discussions (i.e.. challenging issues, deferred topics, other??).
The track chairs will provide a list by next Friday (21 March) that identifies topics that they believe will be raised during the WG ballot. Contributions are encouraged and the Track Leaders will use these contributions for discussion
and consensus building that can be leveraged in July for quick resolution of these issues raised in the WG Ballot.
Regards,
John D’Ambrosia
Chair, IEEE P802.3dj Task Force
