Re: [802.3_B400G_ELEC] [802.3dj] Development (pre-release) Version '4.7beta3' of COM code posted to COM ad hoc website

Hossein,

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention.

While preparing the COM 4.7 associated contribution for the November 2024 plenary, Rich and I are updating the dispositions for 4p6_2 and 4p6_4 to be “revised”, per the proposed COM code commit request dispositions in https://www.ieee802.org/3/dj/public/24_05/lusted_3dj_03_2405.pdf  For reference, revised is “the group agrees with the commit request (at least in part) and implements a change that is not exactly what the submitter proposed.”

The expanded explanation of the disposition “revised” for COM 4.7 that will be in our contribution is as follows:

4p6_2:  Overtaken by events.  The proposed change in this request is no longer relevant due to changes in IEEE P802.3dj D1.2 Annex 178A

4p6_4:  Overtaken by events. The proposed change in this request is related to 4p6_2.  The technical change in the request is the same as that described in 4p6_1.  The “editorial” request for additional reporting of parameter outputs was not implemented in version COM 4.7

With regards,

-Kent

I’ll leave this to Kent to decide, but like I said, technically speaking 46p_4 is not included in this version.

Regards,

Hossein

In the presentation we can just add a note to the effect that all references to Q were omitted in 4p6_6 and print out decisions are deferred.

What is the difference between 4p6_1 and 4p6_4 minus the print out and Q.
