Re: [802SEC] 802.11 WG Origins -- 802.4L Thru Air Media?

For what it's worth,

We have an archive of early material (scans etc. that Vic Hayes and Adrian Stephens put together).

Scans of the early drafts are also available (we can't distribute those publicly).

There is a bit of a history of 802.11 in the following two books:
The Innovation Journey of Wi-Fi, Walter Lemstra, Vic Hayes, John Groenewegen

And
Beyond Every Where, Greg Ennis

Dear Guido, Al, and All,

The 802.4 C Thru Air Media Amendment Project Approval is attached.  Note
that it was approved 10 December 1987.  Unfortunately I don't know of
any surviving members of that project (Chandos Rypinski and Paul Eastman
passed away).  It would be great if someone does.

I know Chandos references 802.4L, but there is no record of it, only
802.4C, he may have mis-remembered in contribution 5-06/0107.  Chandos
was a great 802 volunteer, I remember him well from his many
contributions to various 802 groups..

Regards,

--Paul
