Vivik,
My point is that for the wireless technologies there are not
multiple Media, there is only one: Air. We are not dealing with
multiple media. In 21 you also dealt with Cable so you had multiple
media.

Steve and All,
802.21 WG is named as Media Independent Handovers (MIH) and yes
media independent is a very widely used term in this group. However
that does not mean that other groups cannot use this term, if it
makes sense.
Co-existence does span across different media types and that's why
this term probably keeps coming up a lot. Media Access Independent
is fine too in that sense.
Best Regards
-Vivek

Sanislav et. al.,
Sorry I was unable to make the conference call this morning. I
heard that there was some good discussion.
I was looking over your comments and you use the phrase "media
access independent." I wanted to comment a bit on that phrase.
The term "media independent" has been used a lot in 802.21. To me
"media" means either the Air for wireless systems or a cable for
wired systems. So I don't think "media independent" is the best
phrase for our purposes. You modified it to "media access
independent" which to me means "MAC independent." I think that is
much better. However, I think there may still be better terms.
Some possibilities are,
1. Wireless Technology Independent
2. Wireless Standard Independent
There may be others. I tend to use #1. In that context a wireless
technology is associated with a specific standard (e.g. 802.11,
802.16, 802.22, WCDMA, etc.)
I am glad to see you and others providing comments.
Thanks,
Steve

Dear Steve,
We have reviewed the draft PAR suggested to the group and we would
like to make a presentation regarding our comments to the draft PAR
during the teleconference.
Unfortunately at the moment we cannot upload our comments to the
Mentor system, so we have attached the comments and a PAR suggestion
resolving these comments to this email.
Could you please consider allocating us a time slot for the
presentation?
Thank you.
Best regards, Stanislav Filin and Tuncer Baykas @ NICT, Japan.
